For the World Water Day, SOFF is happy to share the invitation to the Water at the Heart of Climate Action high-impact webinar.

The consortium comprising NLRC, IFRC, Climate Centre, SOFF, UNDRR, and WMO is implementing a regional project ‘Water at the Heart of Climate Action’ (WHCA) in the Nile Basin countries, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Netherlands.

The WHCA project will bring systematic changes that aim to accelerate and scale up water action to mitigate the impacts of water-related risks and increase the climate resilience of affected communities. As such, it contributes to the goals of the UN Early Warnings for All initiative. The project is supporting government agencies (Meteorology, Hydrology, disaster management, and other competent authorities), local authorities, NGOs, and communities in strengthening their capacities and capabilities for early warning and early action services (EWS) including locally led adaptation measures for saving lives, and socio-economic development.

The purpose of the webinar is to share good practices and the need for Flood and Drought EWS as locally led adaptation measures in the Nile Basin countries. Specific objectives are:

  • to reflect on the EWS as a tool for locally-led adaptation measures
  • to share experience from Nile Basin partners on locally-led adaptation measures
  • to leverage the main opportunities that WHCA partners can use to support for locally-led adaptation measures including EWS
